The Publication Process: Working with Academic Journals In-Person

Dr Mark Freeman | Dr Sam Duncan | Dr Achala Gupta | ONLINE | Asynchronous from Wednesday 16 June, with two optional synchronous sessions 21 June 10:00 - 11:00 and 22 June 16:00 - 17:00

NB: This course accrues 2 training points.

This course considers the whole process of publishing your work in academic journals. We attempt to demystify the peer review and editing process, and discuss how and where to submit your work for publication. We consider the choice of journal and the construction of research articles, the role of editors and peer reviewers, and how to deal with acceptance, resubmission and rejection. A key element of the course consists of two worked examples of real articles, written by the course tutors, that were published in major journals following peer review. There is also advice on book reviewing.

There is online material amounting to one or two days of asynchronous online activity from Wednesday 17 June, and there will be two optional synchronous Q&A sessions, on Monday 21 June 10:00 -11:00 AM and Tuesday 22 June 16:00 - 17:00 PM.
