The Publication Process: Working with Academic Journals (face-to-face + ONLINE) In-Person

Professor Mark Freeman | Second tutor - tbc | Third tutor - tbc | Summer: predominantly online from Monday 3 June but with two face-to-face sessions - 10:00 to 11:00 AM + 16:00 to 17:00 PM on Wednesday 12 June (Room 728)

NB: This course accrues 2 training points.

This course considers the whole process of publishing your work in academic journals. We attempt to demystify the peer review and editing process, and discuss how and where to submit your work for publication. We consider the choice of journal and the construction of research articles, the role of editors and peer reviewers, and how to deal with acceptance, resubmission and rejection. A key element of the course consists of two worked examples of real articles, written by the course tutors, that were published in major journals following peer review. There is also advice on book reviewing.

Online materials available from Monday 5 June. The course will run asynchronously online with two optional face-to-face sessions, on Wednesday 14 June 10:00 to 11:00 AM and 16:00 to 17:00 PM in room 728 in the IOE.
