Qualitative Data Workshop (advanced) (ONLINE) In-Person
Dr Yashpia Salema & Tim Hampson | Five two-hour sessions | Spring: Thursday 11:00 - 13:00 (UK time) February 27 + March 6, 13, 20, 27
This online course is strictly for students who have already gathered data in their doctoral research. If you do not have data to discuss, you may not attend this course. You will be expected to share some of your data from your PhD studies during one of the sessions.
The course is designed to help you think about how you will use qualitative data in your research, including the purpose of the data, how it relates to your research questions, how to organise it, work with it, and analyse it.
Each week, students will work in small groups of around five participants with one nominated member allocated an hour to discuss their data. Students will share an extract of their data in advance of the session and the group will discuss the data with them. The discussions will focus on data and on the methodological issues that it presents. The course tutors will move between the groups during the session. The second hour of each week will comprise a general discussion about the issues raised in the small group discussions.
