General Overview:
This course aims to help students to reflect on the distinctive nature of doctoral study and academic research in the context of the university. To do this we will engage with a range of different kinds of doctoral and academic writing, for example: finished theses, post-doctoral-research proposals, and upgrade submissions. We will also engage in activities to help you to think through the process of formulating and focussing a piece of research. The course is designed to support your engagement in the early stages of your doctoral studies, and it is expected that you will complete it prior to your upgrade.
