This is a course for those undertaking research in philosophy, or whose thesis has a significant philosophical component.
Introduction to Research in Philosophy offers an introduction to central questions in epistemology and in moral and political philosophy. Students are introduced to materials in these fields, and are encouraged to get to grips with intricate philosophical argument and to appraise this for themselves. In the first class we explore whether and in what sense knowledge and reality are social constructed. In the second class we explore the ideals of equality and giving priority to the worst off, and we discuss their relative importance.
