Getting the Balance Right (ONLINE) In-Person

Professor Richard Freeman | One one-and-a-half-hour session | Autumn: Tuesday 28 October 17:00 - 18:30 (UK time)

NB: This course accrues 1 training point.

This session explores the importance of ‘getting the balance right’ in working for your doctorate with practical advice. The balance here is generally dealing with the tension of doing doctoral research but also having a life beyond research, which is essential in doctoral study given that it takes a minimum of three years. For many doctoral students at IOE, the balance is not just these two life components but also paid employment.

The nature of this course is that you would watch the relevant recorded narrated PowerPoint in advance of the online Zoom session.

In the online Zoom session you will be able to discuss your own experiences with another doctoral student in a confidential breakout room. Those experiences, comments, questions etc that you wish to share with the group will be explored.

Please note that these live sessions will not be recorded, but the narrated PowerPoint will be available to view for the rest of the academic year.
