The Publication Process: Working with Academic Journals (face-to-face + ONLINE) In-Person

NB: This course accrues 2 training points.

This course comprises of four sessions held in one term, mainly delivered synchronously online. The final session will be an optional in-person writing retreat at UCL. This course focuses on the Publication Process during your PhD or EdD: working with academic journals, publishing book chapters, and developing writing practices. We will start by exploring why you might want to publish during your PhD, what you might publish, and how to go about finding places to publish. Session 2 will focus on working with academic journals, incorporating both reviewing and submitting articles, and how to respond to feedback from reviewers. Session 3 is about publishing book chapters and the different forms this might take. The final, optional, session will take the form of a structured writing retreat that will incorporate dedicated time for writing and learning more about developing different writing practices to help you with finishing your PhD/EdD and possibly publishing along the way!
