Post-Upgrade Student Workshop (ONLINE) In-Person
Facilitators: Coco Shi & Wanwei Nie | Two two-hour sessions | Spring: 17:30 - 19:30 (UK time) Thursday January 29 + February 5
*Special Note: All participants are required to have completed their upgrade interview.
NB: This course accrues 2 training points.
You did it!! You passed your upgrade. Now what? This workshop aims to explore experience of the upgrade and to deal with the aftermath in order to help establish or re-establish a sense of direction, purpose and confidence. The upgrade may have exercised a heavy impact on your personal and academic lives. This workshop provides a collaborative (virtual but interactive) space and a unique opportunity to work through all the issues and questions that follow in the wake of achieving a ‘Post-Upgrade’ status.
The upgrade is a new and unfamiliar process, yet it is essentially the first real opportunity for you as a researcher to receive feedback on your academic work and progress. This workshop will help to reassure and re-establish confidence in both yourself and academic abilities. In addition, the workshop provides supportive and constructive feedback on your research going forward. At the end of the sessions you will leave with a personalized road map that charts the goals and expectations you require on this journey.
Please note participants are expected to have completed their upgrade interviews, as the workshop focuses on working through your upgrade document, experience and feedback in view of developing a plan of action moving forward. To that end, could we please request everyone to please have access to:
- Your upgrade submission/document
- Your upgrade feedback
The resources for the workshop will be available via Moodle and available for prior to the first session. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to meeting with you all soon.
