Critical Perspectives in Research (Session 1): Ways of seeing: using theoretical perspectives to interpret qualitative data (ONLINE) In-Person

Dr Alyson Colman | One two hour session | Spring: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (UK time) Friday 30 January

NB: this course works in conjunction with Session 2, which takes place on Friday February 6. You might wish to sign up for both.

An introductory session to support the selection and use of relevant theories to build a conceptual framing for data analysis. We will draw on broad theories that can lead us to a conceptual framing for our doctoral research. This can then usefully serve to illuminate the data analysis and interpretation process.

By interrogating several theoretical and conceptual frameworks used in qualitative data analysis, we will identify appropriate methods to determine a workable conceptual framing. This session is suitable for all doctoral students using qualitative data and while it links to Critical Perspectives in Research: Session 2 (February 6) it also exists as a standalone session.
