Critical Perspectives in Research (Session 2): Using critical scholarship in educational research (ONLINE) In-Person
Dr Alyson Colman | One two hour session | Spring: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (UK time) Friday 6 February
NB: this course works in conjunction with Session 1, which takes place on Friday January 30. You might wish to sign up for both.
An introduction to drawing on concepts and theories from critical scholarship to apply within educational research. We will briefly consider the development of critical scholarship that stems from Marx, the critical theorists, Foucault, Bourdieu and more recent iterations e.g. Brown and Butler.
We will consider the ways in which critical scholarship can be particularly useful in informing our research and understanding in neoliberal times. This session is suitable for all doctoral students using qualitative data and no explicit prior knowledge of critical scholarship is required. While the session connects to Critical Perspectives in Research: Session 1 (January 30), it exists as a standalone session too.
