CDE Writing Day (ONLINE) In-Person
Dr Jonathan Stoddart | One five-hour session | Spring: 10:00 - 15:00 (UK time) Saturday 21 February (Room 780 in the IOE)
This course accrues 2 training points.
Writing Days offer a structured, distraction-free environment that helps academics focus on their writing, build confidence, and develop lasting writing habit. They aim to help participants:
- Focus deeply on their writing projects;
- Build confidence and momentum as writers;
- Develop sustainable writing habits that last beyond the day; and.
- Connect with peers in a supportive writing community.
Unlike classes, seminars, or workshops, Writing Days are not about teaching or “correcting” writing. The facilitator’s role is not to critique or edit participants’ work, nor to “teach” the group. Instead, the facilitator simply guides the structure of the day, keeps time, and supports participants in maintaining focus.
Participants typically:
- Set clear writing goals at the start of the day;
- Work in timed writing blocks;
- Share goals and progress with peers; and
- Reflect on achievements and next steps.
