Forum on Emerging Ethical Issues (face-to-face) In-Person
Prof Michael Reiss | One two-hour session | Spring: 17:00 - 19:00 (UK time) Wednesday March 11 (Room 736 in the IOE)
NB: This course accrues 1 training points.
The aim of this session is to allow you to bring emerging and ongoing ethical issues that have arisen while you are undertaking your doctoral research and receive feedback from others in the session and from me. The hope is that this will complement advice you have received from your supervisor(s), helping to improve the quality of your work. It is not essential for everyone to come to the session with a specific ethical dilemma but it would be good if most participants did.
Students attending this course could be at any stage of their doctorate where they are encountering and thinking about ethical issues. They do not need to have collected data yet. However, the course will not suit students right at the start of their doctorate who have not yet formulated their broad research direction and design. The entire session consists of class-based discussion; students briefly present emerging ethical issues with the rest of the group and the course leader and then receive suggestions from them. There is no break in the session.
